Design
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
Description
The Barcelona Chair is one of the most recognizable armchairs of the 20th century, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona World Exhibition in 1929. Its form exudes refined elegance and perfectly embodies the well-known maxim “less is more”.
The architecturally designed armchair has a cross-shaped frame and a sloping seat that provides optimal comfort and support. The cushions are handmade from 40 individual squares of leather, suede or fabric, hand-stitched and tufted with buttons, and secured with tonal leather straps. Each piece bears the Knoll logo and the designer's signature as a guarantee of authenticity.
