PADIGLIONS
Design
Alain Gilles
Description
The Padiglioni table by designer Alain Gilles draws inspiration from the iconic Barcelona Pavilion designed by Mies van der Rohe. The central element of this table is the base, which consists of three asymmetrical elements, each with its own special shape, placed in a seemingly random manner to make the composition visually dynamic. It is precisely because of the asymmetrical character of the base that anyone who views it from different angles will notice that the table changes its appearance depending on the perspective.
The base is therefore a significant part of the table, highlighted by the top, whose linear shape with a tapered edge contrasts with the legs and completes the overall impression. A story of skillfully achieved balances and contrasts that interact with each other – the asymmetrical Padiglioni dining table represents the pinnacle of Alain Gilles' creative ability and Bonaldo's manufacturing excellence.
