Description
In 1966, the Platner collection embodied the "decorative, gentle, graceful" forms that were beginning to enter the modern design language of the period. Iconic pieces were created by welding hundreds of curved steel rods to circular frames, achieving both construction and decoration simultaneously. During the 1960s, Warren Platner transformed steel wires into a sculptural furniture collection, creating what is now considered a design icon of the modern era. Vertical steel wires are welded to circular horizontal and edge ring rods, and the seat is made of pressed fiberglass with a foam cushion, which attaches with Velcro.
